The CoronaVirus, also known as COVID-19, has affected millions. It came out of nowhere and has caused our world and people’s lives to change dramatically. The coronavirus outbreak originated from bats and a man ate it and it jumped to the human system and spread.

Scientists realized the virus came from bats because of their “genetic sequence of the virus closely related to a bat virus, 96 percent the same.” So how has this pandemic affected our lives and what are we going to do to get rid of it?

Teenagers like myself didn't realize how

widespread and rapid this pandemic could spread. Since it was in China, across the country, Corona wouldnt come over here but many people thought wrong. It has spread very quickly affecting children as young as 6 months to as old as 104 years old. It “has infected more than 126,000 in 114 countries, and taken more than 4,600 lives” since March 12, 2020. People don't realize how bad it is and we need to do something sooner than later.

It has affected everyone's lives in some ways. Since the middle of March, school was cancelled and will be until at least May 1. Stores, shops, etc were still open when schools were first closing but have eventually shut down. Nail salons, mattress firms,

clothing stores, etc. Sports and extracurricular activities have been cancelled until further notice.

Restaurants are closed except drive thrus and carryout. At Kroger, Sam’s, Costco, etc. there is a line you have to stand in so less people are in the store at a time. The only place I have been to is parks to get fresh air and exercise, maybe my chances are lowered. Many people are wearing hospital masks but is that really helping if you don't have the virus?

So how do we stop the pandemic completely? We have already tried to slow down the amount of people infected and deaths by closing everything down till it gets better. Yes, the vaccine can be invented for this virus but for a vaccine to become mass produced it has to be tested for 18 months. We don't have 18 months for this to go away. We need it gone sooner than later. But what if there are two strains, one is possibly deadlier than the other and we don't have much research on the virus. According to news-medical, it says, “In most cases, though samples pass clinical tests, the production of a vaccine to be used by the public may take about 12 to 18 months, at least.” So what do we do in that situation? One last solution which isn't the greatest solution is have everyone stay in their homes for two weeks at the least, going nowhere and having no human contact except family. This will have numbers go down but we just need time and space to slowly kill this horrible virus off.
